The Post Office service in West Babylon and Babylon Village is experiencing numerous calls and a volume of theft from the mailboxes outside the Post Office itself. Envelopes have been taken and those checks enclosed have been “white washed” to be used for theft purposed. There is a postal investigation ongoing at this and the post office recommends ONLY mailing from inside of the post office especially on the weekends. Leaving in the mailbox for a delayed period of time (such as on a Sunday) can possibly open the door for a bad situation to occur. Especially on the weekends, please mail from INSIDE of the post office. Should you happen to a victim of this type of theft, please call the Postmaster at (631) 893-0560 and a report will be needed to be filled out.
