The meeting opened at 7:02 pm.

Trustee Seibert led the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Village Clerk read the Legal Notice:

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Trustees of the Village of Babylon will hold a Public Hearing at 153 West Main Street, on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. or as soon thereafter as can be heard to consider the application of Isaura Sanchez to open an indoor children’s party/play center at 105 W. Main Street, the former location of Unique Golf.

Copy of application and plans may be examined at the office of the Village Clerk, between the hours of 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM Monday through Friday.

All interested persons should appear at the above time and place and they will be given the opportunity to be heard. All applicants and their duly appointed representatives must appear in person at the above hearing.

Ms. Sanchez addressed the Board to explain her intention to open an inclusive space where children of all abilities can come and play and feel welcomed. This would be accomplished by providing dim lighting, noise cancelling headphones and coaching the parents. She will also provide classes, such as yoga, mommy and me classes, sensory explorations music classes, all led by either Ms. Sanchez or a speech therapist or an occupational therapist. She would also like to offer open play space, available for children of all abilities, as well as host birthday parties.

The Board addressed some concerns about available parking. The applicant explained that the landlord dedicated 6 parking spaces in rear of the building with a handicap space. The Board suggested she encourage patrons to use the municipal lots behind the Post Office Café and have employees apply for employee parking permits. The Board also wanted clarification on hours of operation. The applicant stated that she is requesting 9:00AM- 8:00PM, with 2 – 3 open play sessions a day and one class but wanted to provided flexibility to families if after school hours are needed.

The meeting was opened to the public; no one addressed the Board.

On the motion of Trustee Seibert, seconded by Trustee Miga and unanimously carried, it was,

RESOLVED to reserve decision.

    NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Trustees of the Village of Babylon will hold a Public Hearing at the Municipal Building, 153 West Main Street, Babylon, NY, on Tuesday, April 23rd, 2024 at 7:00 PM, or as soon thereafter as can be heard, to consider the adoption of proposed Local Law 0423PH 290-18 of the year 2024 to amend Village Code Chapter §290-18- Fees.

    Complete text of the above Local Law is available in the Office of the Village Clerk, on the Village website: www.villageofbabylonny.gov, or can be requested by calling the Village Clerk’s Office at (631) 669-1500.

    All interested persons should appear at the above time and place, and they will be given an opportunity to be heard.

    Mayor Adams opened by stating that this law is correcting the current code, allowing the Board of Trustees to adjust fees when needed. The Mayor then polled the Board:

    Trustee Seibert agrees, with costs rising, it is good for the Board to raise fees if needed

    Trustee Miga agrees with Trustee Seibert and is in favor.

    Trustee Bencivenga is in favor, feels it makes sense.

    Trustee Cardali is in favor.

    The meeting was opened to the public; no one addressed the Board.

    On the motion of Trustee Seibert, seconded by Trustee Miga and unanimously carried, it was,

    RESOLVED to reserve decision.

      On the motion of Trustee Seibert, seconded by Trustee Miga and unanimously carried, the meeting adjourned at 7:25 PM.
