A work session was held by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Babylon on TUESDAY, JULY 27, 2021. On the motion of Trustee Seibert, seconded by Trustee Bencivenga and unanimously carried, the meeting opened at 7:05 PM. On the motion of Trustee Cardali, seconded by Trustee Bencivenga and unanimously carried, the Board entered into executive session at 7:13 PM to discuss current litigation, at which time the work session was ended on the motion of Trustee Seibert, seconded by Trustee Bencivenga and unanimously carried. On the motion of Trustee Bencivenga, seconded by Trustee Cardali and unanimously carried, the executive session ended at 8:00 PM.

RESOLVED to approve the minutes of the July 13, 2021 regular meeting of the Board of Trustees and dispense with the reading of the same.

RESOLVED to accept the resignation of Jonathan Dixon as a full-time Highway Laborer effective July 2, 2021.

RESOLVED that Angela’s House will host a fundraiser featuring psychic medium Jeffrey Wands on Saturday, November 6th, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Babylon Masonic Lodge, 250 W. Main Street.
On the motion of Trustee Cardali, seconded by Trustee Bencivenga and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to grant permission to Boy Scout Troop #194 to use the gazebo on Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM for Matthew Nyman’s Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremony. This permission is granted contingent upon timely receipt of required certificates of insurance with the Village of Babylon listed as an additional insured, as well as a signed and notarized hold harmless agreement.
On the motion of Trustee Cardali, seconded by Trustee Bencivenga and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to grant permission to the United Methodist Church of Babylon to hold a Revival at the Gazebo on Friday, September 3, 2021 between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM, with approximately 100 people in attendance. This permission is granted contingent upon timely receipt of the required certificates of insurance with the Village of Babylon listed as an additional insured, as well as a signed & notarized hold harmless agreement.
On the motion of Trustee Cardali, seconded by Trustee Bencivenga and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED that the Village of Babylon will host “Let’s Groove Tonight, Celebrating the 70’s” at the Village Pool on Friday, August 20th from 7:30 PM to 11:00 PM.
On the motion of Trustee Cardali, seconded by Trustee Bencivenga and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED that the Village of Babylon will host a “Movie Night” at the Village Pool at 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 24th, 2021, with a rain date of Wednesday, August 25th. (Details will follow prior to event date.)

RESOLVED to accept the resignation of Anthony Bozymowski as a full-time Highway Laborer effective June 24, 2021.
On the motion of Trustee Seibert, seconded by Trustee Cardali and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to grant permission to Babylon Jr.-Sr. High School to use the Park Avenue tennis courts (north and south side) from August 30th through November 6th, 2021, between 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., for the Junior Varsity and Junior High Girls Tennis teams’ fall season. This permission is granted contingent upon timely receipt of the required certificates of insurance with the Village of Babylon listed as an additional insured, as well as a signed & notarized hold harmless agreement.
On the motion of Trustee Seibert, seconded by Trustee Cardali and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to grant permission to the residents of Cadman Avenue to hold a block party on Saturday, August 7, 2021, from 12:00 Noon to 11:00 PM, with a rain date of Saturday, August 21, 2021. The street will be blocked between Park Avenue and Locust Avenue, subject to parking restrictions for emergency purposes.
On the motion of Trustee Seibert, seconded by Trustee Cardali and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to grant permission to Race Awesome to hold the Catholic Health Services Suffolk County Marathon to benefit veterans on Sunday October 24th, 2021. [The race will begin at 7:30 AM at the Babylon Train Station, head west on Montauk Highway, around Argyle Lake, then east on Montauk Highway to continue the race course outside the Village. The last athlete is expected to pass Rt. 231 by 8:40 AM, at which time the Village roads will reopen.] This permission is granted contingent upon timely receipt of the required certificates of insurance with the Village of Babylon listed as an additional insured, as well as a signed & notarized hold harmless agreement.

RESOLVED to remove the Eligible Fund Veteran exemption granted to John A. Witthohn for the property located at 199 Cadman Avenue [002-01-119], as per the attached Assessor Petitions, and bill the new owners, John M., Richard, and David Witthohn, the exempt property restoration totaling $135.36 for the 2020 and 2021 tax years.

RESOLVED to issue a refund in the amount of $625.00 to Patrick Corr for boat slip #9018 at Lighthouse Canal. (This represents the pro-rated amount paid for slip in July.)
On the motion of Trustee Bencivenga, seconded by Trustee Seibert and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to issue a pro-rated refund in the amount of $480.00 to Lee Pelcher for giving up boat slip #8046 at Main Dock for the remainder of the 2021 season only.
On the motion of Trustee Bencivenga, seconded by Trustee Seibert and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to issue a pro-rated refund in the amount of $500.00 to Robert Sweet for giving up boat slip #4029 at East Creek.
On the motion of Trustee Bencivenga, seconded by Trustee Seibert and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED to grant permission to Christ Episcopal Church to host a Bike & Brunch fundraiser on September 18th, 2021, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM., with no more than 100 bicyclists. The route of the 11-mile bike ride will be provided prior to the event and the brunch meal will be on the front lawn of the church. This permission is granted contingent upon timely receipt of the required certificates of insurance with the Village of Babylon listed as an additional insured, as well as a signed & notarized hold harmless agreement.
On the motion of Trustee Bencivenga, seconded by Trustee Seibert and unanimously carried, it was
RESOLVED that the Village of Babylon will host the annual Snapper Derby on Saturday, August 28th, 2021 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at the Babylon Village Municipal Dock on Fire Island Avenue.

On the motion of Mayor Adams, seconded by Trustee Seibert and unanimously carried,
BE IT RESOLVED that the Snapper Derby Clinic hosted by the Village of Babylon be renamed The Ralph A. Scordino Snapper Clinic, in honor of the late Mayor Scordino, who initiated the idea of a snapper clinic for children to learn about and enjoy fishing;
And,
ALSO RESOLVED that the Village of Babylon will host The Ralph A. Scordino Snapper Clinic on Saturday, August 21st, 2021 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon on the east side of the Village Pool parking lot, Fire Island Avenue.
Mayor Adams gave a special commendation and thanks to Code Enforcement Officer Alex Iacono, who was present at the meeting. According to Chief Miga of the Babylon Fire Department, Alex helped during an emergency rescue call involving a cardiac arrest patient this past weekend; that person is alive today thanks to the efforts and quick action of the Babylon Fire Department and the help of Alex Iacono.
Accolades also went out to Code Enforcement Officer Anthony Nunez, who aided Suffolk County Police in a situation at the railroad. Due to Anthony’s presence and quick actions to secure the individual, the Police were able to apprehend the individual.
The mayor also made the following announcements:
- There will be no second Board of Trustees meeting in August.
- The Planning Board, Architectural Review Board and Zoning Board do not meet in August.
